Dress Code


YSA Dress Code

Uniforms Pre-k through 8th-grade

All students at Young Scholar's Academy are required to wear the YSA uniform. School uniforms help to unite our children as a family and allow children to consider each other as equals, which can help to break social barriers that relate to financial status or other affiliations. The complete school uniform for YSA must be purchased in the school office, unless otherwise specified below.

Boys:

  • Khaki shorts/pants (purchased only at YSA)
  • Green YSA polo shirt (will be tucked in at all times)
  • Any SOLID black athletic shoe (low top with a non-marking sole)
  • Solid white, hunter green, gold, or black undershirt or turtleneck (optional, purchased elsewhere)
  • Black, white, or tan socks (purchased elsewhere)
  •  YSA sweatshirt (this is the ONLY outerwear allowed and must be purchased at Silly Cactus)

Girls:

  • Khaki skorts, shorts, or pants (purchased only at YSA)
  • Green YSA polo shirt (will be tucked in at all times)
  • Black and white saddle shoes or any SOLID black athletic shoe (low top with a non-marking sole)
  • Hunter green, tan, black, or white socks or white or black tights (purchased elsewhere and must be plain without decoration)
  • Solid white, hunter green, gold, or black undershirt or turtleneck (optional, purchased elsewhere)
  • YSA sweatshirt (this is the ONLY outerwear allowed and must be purchased at Silly Cactus)

Uniforms 9th- through 12th-garde
*High School ONLY*

  • Maroon YSA polo shirt
  • Shorts must be minimum 5-inch inseam (no holes)
  • Pants (no holes or leggings allowed)
  • MUST be closed-toed shoes
  • YSA sweatshirt (this is the ONLY outerwear allowed and must be purchased at Silly Cactus)

Jewelry
Students are allowed one earring in each ear (stud only), one necklace, one bracelet, etc. No other body piercing will be allowed at any time.

Makeup
Female students in the 5th-8th grades may wear light makeup only.

Hair
Hair colors must appear natural and in good taste. Any hair color that causes disruption will not be allowed, and the student will be sent home and not allowed to return to class without the Director’s approval. Only hair 2” or less may be spiked. No etchings, drawings, designs, Mohawks, reverse Mohawks, Liberty Spikes, similar styles, or the latest “fad” style haircuts will be allowed. Any hairstyle that causes a disruption will not be allowed.
